WILMINGTON – June 29, 2012 – Police say a man tried to rescue his wife after she jumped
from a bridge on Friday morning in Wilmington.
Rescuers were called to the Tyler McConnell Bridge shortly after 10:00 a.m. for a report of
a person in the Brandywine River. According to police, a woman jumped from the bridge
and her husband was also in the water trying to save her. Rescuers were able to reach the
woman and rushed her to the hospital. The husband was reported to be out of the water
by that time. There was no immediate word on the conditions of either person. Police are
investigating this incident. The bridge was closed in one direction during the rescue oper-
ation
