A deadly car accident closed Essington Avenue in the Eastwick section of Philadelphia bet-

ween 70th Street and Bartram Avenue early Sunday.  Police told NBC10 the car hit a cement

pole on Essington and flipped over. The car landed in the parking lot of Bentley Truck Ser-

vice. The driver was killed.  Three box trucks were damaged.  Investigators believe speed

may have been a factor in the crash. The identity of the driver has not been released.

SOUTHWEST PHILADELPHIA – April 11, 2012 – A woman was seriously injured after

being ejected during a two vehicle accident in Southwest Philadelphia. The accident

happened shortly after 6:00 p.m. at 71st Street and Buist Avenue. Police say two vehi-

cles collided with one of the vehicles taking out a nearby fire hydrant.  Fire medics

rushed a 41-year-old woman to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania for

care.It is not clear if the female transported was the woman ejected from the vehicle.

A young boy is in the hospital after being struck by a car in the Kingsessing section

of the city. It happened Monday night on the 5300 block of Lindbergh Boulevard.

Police say a car lost control and struck the 10-year-old child while he was walking on

the sidewalk. The boy was taken to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.  Police don’t

believe the accident was a hit-and-run. No word yet on the boy’s condition.
