Michael Maxwell

Michael Maxwell2

When running up on someone to commit a robbery it’s important to size

up the competition. Michael Maxwell mistakenly assumed that he would

be able to rob a residence and get away scott free–he was wrong. Terribly

wrong.

Maxwell, 19, and his 17-year-old companion were both arrested early Wed-

nesday (May 15) for allegedly breaking into a house in Palm Beach, Fla.

According to police, he and at least three others rolled up to the home in

a gold 2004 Chevrolet Malibu.  After storming the residence, the would-

be robbers ran into a little trouble since the home was actually occupied

by people ready to kick some a**, rather than be victimized.

The teen was punched, kicked, and shot with a stun gun.

He was taken to Brevard County Jail Complex on a single home invasion

charge, but not before being admitted to the hospital to recieve treatment

for his injuries. What’s worse is that Maxwell had to take his mug shot with

a badly beaten swolen face (which will hopefully serve as a reminder not

to break the law, or enroll in some karate classes).

It is unclear if the residence knew Maxwell and the other suspected robbers.

Maxwell, who works as a tattoo artist, was held on $51,000 bond. Author-

ities are still investigating the robbery and encourage anyone with inform-

ation to call 321-952-3456.

An elderly woman died and her husband was hurt during an assault early this morning inside their apartment.

Philadelphia Police were called to the 6700 block of Castor Avenue in the Oxford Circle section of Northeast Philadelphia around 2:20 this morning for the report of a burglary, according to investigators.

They found a bloodied 74-year-old man with extensive wounds to his head and neck. He said at least one man had broken into the second floor apartment he shares with his wife and began to attack the couple.

The 74-year-old woman also suffered wounds to her head and was found dead in the bedroom.

The man was rushed to Aria Health – Torresdale Hospital where he remained hospitalized in stable condition with injuries.

Northeast Detectives say they arrested a man. It’s unclear where he was found.

Police didn’t release a motive and they didn’t say if anything was taken from the apartment. It is believed the man broke in through a window on the second-floor porch.

Neighbors say the male victim collected rent for the landlord on the block.

Kareem Borowy

WEST POTTSGROVE TWP, Pa. – May 5, 2013 – Police say the body of a 19-

year-old, targeted in a home invasion in West Pottsgrove Township, was

found dumped along the side of the road in Lower Pottsgrove Township.

Neighbors stood and watched as crime scene investigators spent the even-

ing gathering evidence.

“I was running Broad Street and got back earlier in the day. I got a message

that there was a crime scene going on and was shocked. This is a family

community,” said Daniel Price.

According to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office it was around

2:00 p.m. when several armed men barged into the home on the 1200 block of

Manatawny Street in West Pottsgrove and demanded cash.

Action News has learned that the homeowner, 67-year-old Ruth Borowy, was

inside with her four adopted adult children, including 19-year-old Kareem Ali

Borowy.

Kareem was then removed from the home at gunpoint.

Minutes later and about five miles away in Lower Pottsgrove Township, police

got a call of a body that was dumped along the 2100 block of Sanatoga Station

Road.

Investigators confirmed the victim was Kareem. He was pronounced dead at

the scene.

“It makes me a little nervous but I feel okay because it feels like an isolated

thing,” said Darlene Fegley.

While neighbors say police respond to this address often, it has been mostly

for domestic issues.

“Just family issues, fighting, arguing, small stuff – nothing crazy like this,”

said Colby Carden.

Investigators questioned and consoled the young murder victim’s family,

who were understandably too upset to speak.  Kareem’s classmate described

him as an all around good person.

“He’s a good kid. He was always helping people out, he wasn’t a gang member

or nothing, so it doesn’t make sense,” said Carden.

Police have not released how Kareem, a 2012 graduate of Pottsgrove High School,

was killed, but do believe he was a target.

They are also working to identify the suspects and a motive in the case.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the West Pottsgrove Police Depart-

ment at 610-323-2090, Lower Pottsgrove Police Department 610-326-1508 or

Montgomery County Detective Bureau 610-278-3368.
