WYOMING COUNTY, NY — Five people in rural New York have been charged with assault-
ing and robbing Mexican migrant workers, authorities said Sunday.
Arrest warrants have been issued for four more people, the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Off-
ice said in a news release. Melissa Cotton, Timothy Kuhn, Gunner Northrup, Allen Seckler
and Brittany Wiedemann are being held in lieu of bail on robbery charges, police said. Four
of the suspects face one count so far; Seckler faces three charges. It wasn’t immediately
clear whether they had retained legal representation. At least three violent robberies had
been reported to the sheriff’s department. In one the victim was strangled unconscious
and his wallet stolen along with other items. He gave police a description of the suspects.
In another, the victim suffered head injuries. The five suspects were in a car pulled over
two weeks ago by a deputy. They were questioned by detectives and released but items
discovered in the car, including a shoe, led police to two other victims. Wyoming County
is just southeast of Buffalo.
