identified the woman shot and killed in front of her mother during a robbery
in Northern Liberties.
It happened at 10:35 p.m. Sunday in the 900 block of North Front Street.
Police arrived to find 26-year-old Amber Long, from the 1700 block of West
Ritner Street in Philadelphia, shot once in the chest.
Long was rushed to Hahnemann University Hospital, where she was pronounced
dead at 11:15 p.m. Police say the victim had been walking on the sidewalk with
her mother when a suspect approached, robbed them and shot Long.
The gunman made off with a cellphone and Long’s mother’s purse.
Police say he was wearing all dark clothing and jumped into a dark-colored or
black Chevrolet Impala operated by a second man.
The car was last seen going north on Front Street.
Investigators are looking at video from several surveillance cameras in the area.
