A Temple University football player was charged with kidnapping and assaulting a woman,
according to Philadelphia Police. Authorities say the two were dating.
Kamal Johnson, 21, is charged with Kidnapping, Unlawful Restraint, Simple Assault, False
Imprisonment, and Reckless Endangerment of Another Person. On September 27, author-
ities say Johnson allegedly pushed his way into the apartment of a 21-year-old woman on
the 1600 block of North 15th Street in North Philadelphia. Police say Johnson knocked on
her door and when the woman answered, he forced his way inside. Johnson allegedly pulled
the woman out of her apartment and forced her down the stairs to his apartment. Investi-
gators say he then pushed her onto a chair and punched her in the back. Johnson then threw
her onto the floor and she hit her head, according to police. Investigators say the woman
asked to leave and Johnson refused. Police say Johnson he then held the woman against her
will for 3 ½ hours. Johnson accused the woman of cheating on him, according to investi-
gators. Police say the woman suffered a head contusion and cuts to her arms and neck. The
woman told police that Johnson abused her in the past. Johnson is a Junior defensive end
with the Owls. He is from Willingboro, New Jersey, according to the school’s website. He
is currently being held on $25,000 bail.
