An elderly man who was shot during a home invasion last May died from his injuries,

according to police.

On May 17, at 2:40 p.m., police say Joseph Fleming, 80, was inside his home on the 6600

block of Yocum Street when he heard a noise coming from his basement. When Fleming

went into the basement to investigate, police say an intruder who was in the stairwell fired

two shots and struck him in the stomach and leg. Fleming was taken to the Hospital of the

University of Pennsylvania. On Friday, police announced Fleming died overnight from his

injuries.  After an investigation, police identified the shooter as Sean Johnson, 18. They

arrested Johnson and took him into custody. On May 26, police say Johnson somehow

escaped and is currently a fugitive.  If you have any information on Johnson’s whereabouts,

please call the Southwest Detectives Division at 215-686-3183.
