NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA – June 12, 2012 – A former volunteer coach for a girl’s soccer
team in Philadelphia has been sentenced on child sex charges. Vincent Mickle, 35, must spend
between 12 and 25 years in prison. He pleaded guilty to those charges in June, 2011. Investiga-
tors said he posed as an 18-year-old boy and befriended the girls on social networking websites.
Mickle was also accused of having sex with a16-year-old. In addition, police said, child p*rno-
graphy was found on his computer. Police say the investigation began when Mickle gained the
trust of a 14-year-old girl and began exchanging sexually explicit photos with the girl via the
internet and over cell phones. He then allegedly met the girl at Frankford and Cottman and
solicited sex, but the girl did not comply. Soon after, police were notified. Authorities say the
incidents have been going on since 2007. Mickle once coached the Lighthouse Soccer Club in
Northeast Philadelphia.
