Two suspects held up the Mann Center in Philadelphia on Friday, and may have made
off with a large amount of cash. At 51st & Parkside, police said the robbers hit at 12:20
p.m. and they were being pursued on Belmont Avenue. The suspects may have more
than $100,000 from the stickup. The band “Death Cab For Cutie” is scheduled to play
at the Mann tonight. Catherine Cahill, president and CEO of The Mann Center for the
Performing Arts released the following statement after the robbery: “Early this after-
noon two men broke into The Mann Center for the Performing Arts. They were armed
and we believe they made off with cash from the offices of Wolfgang Puck Catering that
operate on the premises. Fortunately no one was hurt, and the police are currently in-
vestigating the situation. We believe this is an isolated event and are cooperating with
authorities. We will be open and ready to host the guests for tonight’s Death Cab for
Cutie performance.”
