The body belonged to Joseph Williams and the mortician suggested that the family
didn’t know what happened to their son on the MTV program. The dead man’s father,
Joseph Willams Sr. and other relatives expressed that they did not give consent for
the body to be televised and the footage shown was done for “financial gain and pub-
licity.” MTV, the funeral home and the incarcerated emcee are all named in the law-
suit which cites mental distress as the reason for them seeking a settlement for an
undisclosed amount.
